Description
This set of Base 10 cards provide a powerful tool for exploring number. These images can be found on the Sense of Number 1-120 A1 Laminated Grid available in the Number Fun Shop.
Each number is accompanied by its Base 10 visualisation.
Options for Presentation:
1: Cut up into individual pieces
2: Cut up into strips, so the 120 grid can be sorted into 5s, 10s, 20s etc.
3: Cut up into jigsaw pieces. Children play with the pieces to form a full 1-120 grid.
4: As they come – blocks of 20.
Ideas for Use:
1: Trading Games – children each take a Base 10 card and trade with others. Explore concepts like the total of the two cards or the difference between them.
2: Base 10 Image Creation – children turn over a card and have the challenge of creating the image using their Base 10 equipment.
3: Luscious Link Up – children play with a partner and turn over two cards (or 3 or 4) and have to find some link between the cards – e.g. even, digit sum etc.
4: Children recreate a 120 grid from the cards, reasoning which numbers go where and why. You could vary the length of each row – e.g. 5, 10, 15 etc.
