Description:
These cards include sets of footballs arranged both in standard arrangements and in random arrangements.
Different representations include repeat colours showing how numbers can be built up. For example, the 3 footballs might be identical or 2 of the 3 might be identical or all 3 might be different colours.
Pages 2 to 11: Numbers 1 to 3 in different arrangements and colour combinations.
Pages 12 to 15: Numeral Cards
Ideas for Use:
1: Representing Numbers – children use these cards as prompts for recognising number. The children could match the cards to the numerals.
2: Subitising challenges – children are shown a card and are encouraged to state the number of footballs without counting.
3: Sorting and Matching. The cards could be sorted by number or by colour combinations.
