The Number Fun Zoo is a carefully created 100 square that features animals from the songs found on the Number Fun Portal.
Each animal represents how many factors each number from 1 to 100 has (e.g. the numbers 6, 8 and 10 have has four factors, hence they are all represented by a chicken.)
This document contains:
Page 2: The 100 square and a key to the number of factors each animal represents.
Page 3: The 100 square
Page 4: The Imposter! This is a reasoning challenge – can the children find the animal that is the imposter? (i.e. one number has the wrong animal.)
Page 5: Who is missing? (Can children work out which animals are missing and why?)
Ideas for Use:
1: ‘What do you notice?’ Give your children a copy of page 2 and challenge them to see if they can work out why the animals are as they are, and then what number of factors does each animal represent.
2: Imposter – Give children page 4 and encourage them to work out which animal is the imposter. How do they know?
3: Who is missing – Give children page 5 and challenge them to draw in the correct animals and to reason why they have chosen these ones. Print out and and adapt to create your own versions of Page 5.
