Description
Three powerful tools for exploring Roman Numerals found in this pack: Number Grids, Digit Cards & Flashcards
Pages 2 and 3: Roman Numeral Number Grids – These grids show either a standard 100 square or an extended 120 grid in Roman Numerals.
Pages 4 to 6: Roman Numeral Digit Cards – These cards are deliberately sized to cut out and laminated in credit card sized laminating pouches. These digit cards facilitate a host of digit card games and creative play. Three colour sets are included.
Pages 7 to 51: Roman Numeral Flashcards – An alternative to the Digit Cards. These could be printed out A4 size for group activities or 8 per page to act as digit cards. Again, three colour sets are included.
Ideas for Use:
1) Reasoning about Roman Numerals – use the 120 grid to reason about the value of Roman Numerals and the unique way numbers are created.
2) Digit Card Games – e.g. players take it in turns to create numbers by turning over 2, 3 or 4 digit cards. Players win a point if they can create the largest number etc.
3) Flashcard games – e.g. the teacher writes a number in our Arabic number system on the board. Small groups of children hold up cards using Roman Numerals
4) Counting in Roman Numerals: e.g. counting in 5s – V, X, XV, XX, XXV. XXX etc.
