Description: This PDF download contains three sets of trading and playing cards:
Pages 2-4: Square Numbers
Pages 5-7: Cubed Numbers
Pages 8-10: Prime Numbers
1: Print, laminate and cut into individual cards
2: Print and cut out into strips for use in display.
Ideas for Use:
1: Matching – matching the image with the abstract numerals
2: Ordering – creating an image of the numbers in order
3: Reasoning – what does the image tell us about the cubed number?
4: Mixing – put the square numbers and cubed numbers cards together – can the children separate them into square and cubed numbers? Is there any overlap?
5. Speed Search – children roll a 2 digit (or 3-digit) number using place value dice and they search for the cards that represent the square/cubed/prime numbers that are the closest to the rolled number. E.g. if 63 is rolled, the closest square would be 64, the closest cube would also be 64 and the closest prime would be 61!
