Description
This is an extensive set of Tens Frame images (100 tens frame in total) that explore different arrangements of cubes in a tens frame.
This set of Tens Frame Cards is designed to help children explore and master the properties of small numbers. Each card has a set of counters arranged inside a tens frame. This set provides images for all numbers from 0 to 10. Each number has its own dedicated coloured counters and a range of images that show how the counters might be arranged.
Ideas for Use:
1: Trading Games – children each take a Tens Frame card and trade with others. Children explore properties of number (as exemplified above). They might find the total and the difference between their cards.
2: Reasoning Activities – e.g. ‘What’s the same, what’s different?’
3: Combining Frames – what do you see? (E.g. bottom two green boxes in the picture above could be interpreted as 2 + 2 + 12 with 12 being the 3 by 4 array)
4: Subitising (Bonds to 10) – children state the number of counters, the number of spaces and total spaces rapidly. E.g. 5, 5, 10 or 3, 7, 10
